Role of the Network Leadership Team

Each network is committed to organising at least four things in a year as they gather Christian sportspeople together in their local area:

  • Three to five vision and prayer gatherings (at least once a term). These should be as close to 60mins as possible, max 90mins.
  • New for 2024/25: speak to your regional staff worker about the possibility of running one of these gatherings as a training evening (in elements of Pray, Play, Say).
  • One sport specific guest event (e.g. sports quiz, sports tournament) to reach their sports friends with the good news of Jesus.

This booklet further outlines your role as a member of the Network Leadership Team.

Vision and Prayer Gatherings FAQs

How do we get people to the first vision and prayer gathering?

All those who have signed up to the local network will receive email communication from Christians in Sport with details of the prayer gatherings (date, time, location etc) in a monthly email. We will also include the details of upcoming gatherings in the confirmation email for new sign ups. The Network Leadership Team will also spread the word with their personal contacts in the local area.

Is an online or face-to-face gathering better?

Meeting face to face is always preferable but if in circumstances don’t allow then we can help you set up an online call.

What is the best location to hold a prayer gathering?

Think through places that are easy to get to, with good transport links and parking. Ideally places you are able meet for free are good – so potentially a local church. The address of the gathering will be given to all who sign up so bear that in mind if you are meeting in a private home.

How do we feedback after events?

As you complete the attendance register on MyCharitySuite there will be a box to enter feedback from the event.

Communication FAQs

What does publicity about networks look like?

Everyone already on the Christians in Sport mailing list will receive information about the Networks encouraging them to also pass this onto others. For you as leaders we also encourage you to directly message people to encourage them to sign up at christiansinsport.org.uk/local (eg. those on a current WhatsApp group you might have).

What does communication to people who sign up to networks look like?

All those who have signed up to the local network will receive email communication from Christians in Sport with details of the prayer gathering (date, time, location etc). They will also receive reminder emails ahead of the gathering.

What contact is expected from the leadership team with those in the network between gatherings?

You may choose to set up a WhatsApp group for all those signed up for your network. We suggest adding people to your group only once they have come to a gathering or if you know them personally. You can use this group for prayer, encouragements as you wish. You may want to set out guidelines for use for all who join. We can help you set this up if needed and provide further guidelines.
