Cost
Sports Extra costs €150 for leaders with a reduced rate of €80 available for those who wish to access the Bursary Fund. During the application process you will be asked to select which rate you plan to pay.
The Trainee programme is a two-stage training programme aimed at young leaders who want to serve at Sports Extra for the first time. Both stages have been designed for those playing sport regularly in a club or team; to help develop their leadership potential at Sports Extra (as future Team Leaders or Coaches) and help them to live out being a Christian in their sport.
Stage One: Trainee 1
There is no requirement for a Trainee 1 to be a Christian but they must recognise and adhere to the Christ City Church Statement of Faith and not do anything to contravene this during their time as a Trainee 1.
Course content:
- Biblical teaching and grounding in the basics of the Christian faith
- Training in how to be a Christian in sport
- 1-1 discussions to enable you to think and apply the teaching and training
- Serving within various elements of Sports Extra
- Playing sport together as a Trainee team
Stage Two: Trainee Leader/Coach
The second stage of the programme is split into two focus areas – Trainee Leader and Trainee Coach - and is for individuals who have previously attended as a Trainee 1 or participated in another leadership role/programme. There is a requirement for those in the second stage of the programme to be a Christian and they must agree with the Christ City Church Statement of Faith.
Trainee Leaders will shadow a Team Leader through involvement with a team of young people and Trainee Coaches will be linked to a first sport to learn and gain experience from the respective coaching team.
