Sports Plus is a week of specialist sports coaching and team competitions for young people who are serious about sport and play regularly in a club or team. Sports Plus is the perfect way to improve in your sport, while exploring more about the Christian faith and what it means to be a Christian sports player.

Sports

The first sports on offer are: Athletics, Football, Netball, Rowing* & Rugby

There are over five hours of sport a day and so we want to ensure that young people have the stamina to meet the demands of the week, enabling them to progress in their sport. We expect young people to select a first sport they play regularly in a club or team and if they do not we will contact the parent/guardian to discuss whether Sports Plus is a suitable camp for the young person. If you would like to discuss this before making a booking please contact the office using the details below.

Please note these are provisional sports and they will be confirmed in early January. It also may be necessary to withdraw sports from the list offered if we do not receive sufficient bookings and are therefore unable to run viable coaching sessions. In this instance those booked will be offered an alternative option.

*This will be a limited opportunity for a small group of scullers who would like to improve their single and crew skills for performance at, or progression towards, GB Junior trials. If you would like further details on this, please contact the team using the details below.

Age

Monkton 1 Sports Plus is for young people in Year 7 to Year 12 in January 2025; or equivalent years if a young person attends school outside of England & Wales.

Please note young people must be aged 17 or under to attend Sports Plus. Those in the school years above who turn 18 prior to the start of Sports Plus should apply to the Development Squad.

Price

The price will be confirmed prior to bookings opening but there will be a reduced rate available which is subsidised by the Sports Plus Bursary Fund and is accessible for families to which the full cost is not affordable. Payment can also be made in instalments over the course of a number of months. You will be asked to select which rate you plan to pay when completing the booking form and this is what we will request when asking for payment. As a guide Sports Plus 2024 cost £385 for each young person; with a reduced rate of £210.
