Sunday, 16th August
Elite Cricket
As the finals of The Hundred are played today, pray for the world of elite cricket. Give thanks for the small number of Christian players we know and support and pray that God would raise up more. Pray that we’d be able to connect with and support them to live and speak for Jesus.
Monday, 17th August
Young Performance Athletes (YPAs)
Pray for YPAs who are moving to a new team, club or age group this coming season and feel an increased pressure to perform. Pray that God would help them adjust to changes and deal well with uncertainty around selection.
Tuesday, 18th August
Season 50 Matched Funding
Give thanks to God for the generosity that has enabled any new or increased regular giving to Christians in Sport to be matched this year. Pray that all of the available matched funding can be drawn down this year, and that this enables fruit in the mission of reaching sportspeople for Christ.
Wednesday, 19th August
Sports Plus Safeguarding
Pray for everyone involved Sports Plus over the summer, for their health and safety and for no major illness or injuries. Pray for the safeguarding of young people – that every leader would be wise in the way they act towards each young person.
Thursday, 20th August
Premier League Football
As the English Premier League starts tomorrow evening, give thanks for the number of elite football players, coaches and staff we know and support. Pray that they’d know their identity is secure in Christ regardless of the outcome of their season.
Friday, 21st August
Lausanne Diamond League
Give thanks for the opportunity we have to support a number of Christian elite track and field athletes through online and in person Bible studies and 1-2-1s. Pray for those competing at the Lausanne Diamond League, that they would know they are loved unconditionally by God however they perform.
Saturday, 22nd August
Sports Plus 2026
Praise God for the team of leaders and coaches who gave their time to serve across Sports Plus camps this summer, pray that they would feel encouraged to live and speak for Jesus in their own sports clubs and teams as they go back home.

2026 is special for Christians in Sport; on Wednesday, 18th February, we marked fifty years since a small group met with the conviction that God cared deeply about sport, and that He would act in the world of sport if they prayed.
