Students
Give thanks for Christians in Sport university group leaders as academic terms finish. Pray that they’d have a restful time during the Christmas break and come back to university renewed and re-energised to lead students seeking to live and speak for Jesus in their university sports clubs.
Monday, 15th December
Young Performance Athletes (YPAs)
Give thanks for the two groups of YPAs (15-17 & 19-23yr old) that meet regularly online to read the Bible, share fellowship, and pray. Pray these groups would be a genuine support to each YPA as they go through the highs and lows of performance pathway sport.
Tuesday, 16th December
The Reach Project
Pray for the ‘Reach’ projects taking place in areas of need across the UK which seek to engage young sportspeople with the good news of Jesus. Pray that God would continue to raise up new partners working in areas of deprivation who can enable us to reach young sportspeople with the gospel.
Wednesday, 17th December
New Year Training
Pray for New Year Training – our student conference – taking place in Northern Ireland, Scotland and England in January. Pray God would guide Christians in Sport staff as they prepare the teaching programme for the conference.
Thursday, 18th December
Elite sport
Pray for elite athletes who have busy training or playing schedules during Christmas. Pray that athletes in this situation may have time to reflect on the true wonder of Christmas and may be able to enjoy fellowship with other Christians in between games and training sessions.
Friday, 19th December
Back Pages Magazine
As our brand-new magazine, Back Pages: The Annual, is sent out, pray that it would encourage partners who support Christians in Sport through prayer and giving as they read stories from around the work of reaching sportspeople with the good news of Jesus.
Saturday, 20th December
Game Day
Give thanks for the devotional resource, ‘Game Day’ that over 2,500 people receive weekly. Pray that the new series, focusing on 2 Corinthains 5 and God making all things new through Christ, would excite sportspeople with the good news of Jesus through Christmas and in the New Year.
