Sunday, 6th September
Sports Plus
Give thanks that over 1,000 young people attended Sports Plus this summer. Pray that Christian young people would feel encouraged by Sports Plus to live and speak for Jesus as they return to school and club sport after the summer holidays.
Monday, 7th September
University Group Leaders
Give thanks for university group leaders preparing ahead of the 2026/7 Academic year. Pray for the in-person training event happening today and tomorrow for group leaders in England and Wales. Pray that this would be effective in equipping and encouraging leaders before terms start this autumn.
Tuesday, 8th September
Women’s Elite Football
Give thanks for the opportunity to connect regularly with women playing across the top four tiers of women’s football in England, to pray and read the Bible together. Pray for opportunities to connect with and support more women in elite football in this way.
Wednesday, 9th September
Students
Continue to pray for students as many university terms begin this September. Pray for Christians in Sport student groups to be able to find and connect with new Christian students, and that the groups would be effective in equipping and encouraging students to live and speak for Jesus in university sport.
Thursday, 10th September
Give thanks to God for the generosity that has enabled any new or increased regular giving to Christians in Sport to be matched this year. Pray that all of the available matched funding can be drawn down this year, and that this enables fruit in the mission of reaching sportspeople for Christ.
Friday, 11th September
Game Day
Give thanks for the weekly devotional, Game Day as our new series on ‘Meeting the risen Jesus’ in John begins tomorrow. Pray that God would use the series focusing to encourage sportspeople in their faith as they prepare to train or compete.
Saturday 12th September
Graduates
Pray for graduates who were involved in CIS university groups as many move to new towns and cities to begin working. Pray that they’ll find good local churches and continue to witness for Christ in sport as many look to join new clubs and teams.

2026 is special for Christians in Sport; on Wednesday, 18th February, we marked fifty years since a small group met with the conviction that God cared deeply about sport, and that He would act in the world of sport if they prayed.
