Douglas Smith died on October 5th after a long battle with cancer. He was Chairman of the Christians in Sport Trustees in the 1990s. He pioneered the development of sports ministry in Scotland working closely with Christians in Sport and Ambassadors Football. An enthusiast for all sports. He played golf and cricket latterly and on many occasions accompanied Andrew Wingfield Digby on England cricket tours.

A long time member of Deeside Christian Fellowship Church in Aberdeen, where in due course a thanksgiving service will be held. Douglas and his wife Susan have recently been living in Ballater, Aberdeenshire. Their two sons Chris, a good amateur golfer, and David, a semi professional footballer, have close connections with Christians in Sport.

Douglas made an invaluable contribution to the growth of Christians in Sport.
